Please help answer both parts to the questionProblem 1: (35 points)
You have to treat 6000acfm of a fly ash stream at 350K that has a particle density of 1500kgm3,
gas density 1kgm3 and gas viscosity 0.075kgmh. The particle size distribution is given in the
table below. You have decided to use two identical High efficiency Stairmand cyclones in series.
You must achieve a minimum of 99% overall efficiency.
a) Determine the diameter of the cyclones and the total power consumed. Use the Leith&Licht
model.
b) Estimate the annual electricity cost to run a fan to push the 6000cfm of fly ash through the two
cyclones in series, with the total power consumed you have estimated. Assume the fan efficiency
at 70%, and the fan runs for 8,160hrs per year. Use the average Connecticut commercial electricity
rate of 16.66kWWh.|
