Question 12 (30 points) In 2017, Australia increased taxes by 5% on all drinks containing more than a certain amount of sugar. However, Australia did not increase taxes on products containing a sweetener made from corn (HFCS). Mexico is a country that produces a lot of drinks that contain sugar and argues that this new tax violates the GATT. The vast majority of Australian drinks do not contain sugar and use HFCS instead. Mexico sues Australia at the WTO. What are the arguments both side will make? How do you think a WTO panel would analyze this issue? Why? Paragraph BIUVA/ Ev V +
