Please help calculate the bearing capacity and Settlement
I appreciated for your help
Foundation: The foundation was constructed in the transition zone between the crust and the underlying estuarine clay. At the foundation location, the crust was approximately 1.5 m thick and the water table was approximately 1.0 m below ground level. A 1.4 m deep pit was excavated in which a 1.8 m square, 0.6 m thick concrete foundation was cast, soil unit weight 15 kN/m^3 Soil Properties: Extensive field and laboratory testing have been carried out in or on the Ballina clay, and results are presented using the data map web based application. The recommended soil properties are summarized below. The undrained shear strength Su is plotted in Figure 5. The shear strength at the foundation level (z=1.5m) is 10.5 kPa, and it increases with depth at the rate of 1.95 kPa/m. The shear modulus at 50% failure strain is plotted in Figure 6. We choose Gso for settlement calculation. The model parameters are given as Gr=500 kPa, a =0.65, and Kx=20.9. Poisson's ratio is taken as 0.5. 1. Estimate bearing capacity using the bearing capacity learned in the class. 2. Estimate elastic settlement at load 50 kN, 100 kN, and 200 kN using the provided equation 1 (Doherty and Deeks 2003, the equation is shown in the appendix) and the Mayne and Poulos method (1999, see DAS section 9.4). The soil properties are provided in the section above. The modulus of elasticity of concrete can be estimated using 4700/f'c,fc is the compressive strength of concrete, 32 MPa. The appendix provides additional background information in regards to the method. Please use your engineering judgment to make reasonable assumptions for any parameters that are not readily available. 1 DO AHO CLAYEY SILTY SAND WL-50m AHO 600 mm 900 mm 2 --- 1 - 1 -100m AHO -100m AHD ESTUARINE CLAY -300 mm 1800 mm -300 mm 2400 mmStep by Step Solution
