Please help in generating these excel plots by following the instructions below: (you will need to have Microsoft excel)

1) Open a blank workbook in Excel. We'll denote what you're supposed to type by putting it inside < and > brackets. Don't enter the brackets.

2) In cell B2 enter <10>. In cell B3 enter <=B2+1>. Select and hover the mouse over the bottom right corner of B3 (should be a small black plus), click and drag down to B22. You should have a column of numbers from 10 to 30.

3) In cell C2, enter <=B2*3>. Click and drag down through C22. In D2, enter <=RAND()*10>. Click and drag down through D22. In E2 enter <=D2+C2>, click and drag down to E22 (note RAND changes every time Excel performs an operation on the sheet).

4) Select Insert, and pick a scatter chart. Right click in the chart area and select "Select Data". Edit Series1, and select B2:B22 for the X values and E2:22 for the Y values. Left click on the data points to select them, then right click on them so you can select "Add Trendline". Right click on the trendline to select "Format Trendline", and display the equation on chart. Right click on the equation, and select "Format Trendline Label". From the sidebar menu on the right, under the Bars option, under NUMBER, under Category, select "Scientific" and set Decimal Places to 2.

5) Go back to your worksheet and in G2 enter <=B2*B2/10>. Click and drag down to G22. Right click on the chart area of your chart and select "Select Data". Click Add, and add a series with X values of B2:B22, and Y values of G2:G22. Add a trend line and equation but this time, on the same screen where you select Display Equation on Chart, select Polynomial Order 2. Format the equation to display two decimal places in scientific notation.

6) Right click on the chart down below the numbers of the x axis and select Move Chart, and move the chart to a new sheet. Left click on the chart, and then select the green plus in the upper right corner. Make sure the Axis Titles and Chart Title boxes are checked. Modify the titles to something appropriate, and add units to the axis. Add textbox labels to differentiate the two curves. Move and/or re-size any labels that aren't clear.

7) Right click the chart and select copy. Open Word (or your favorite word processor program) and paste the graph into the word document. The graph should take up at least half of a page, and all information on the graph (numbers, labels, etc) should be legible. You should have something that looks vaguely like this:
