Requirements

Using ERDPlus, draw the ERD for the following situation. Make sure to arrange your diagram so that all cardinalities are visible. Paste your diagram into a word document. Type your name at the top of the document.

Be sure to:

Convert all many-to-many relationships and ternary (three-way) relationships to associative entities. Make sure to indicate any identifying relationships. Reminder: you do not need to name relationships connected to the associative entities.

Make sure each regular entity has an appropriate identifier.

Specify the maximum and minimum cardinality for each relationship.

Add identifiers where/if necessary

Make sure to indicate multivalued and composite attributes. Make sure attribute names are unique.

Remember that entity names should be singular nouns.

Problem!!!

Boise Mountain is a legendary ski resort that is in need of a database. Please draw the ERD using the following information: Our ski hill is divided into many ski runs. Each run is accessed by one or no lift. Each lift provides access to one of more runs. Runs are classified by their name, length, and difficulty. Lifts are broken down by lift name, type of lift, number of chairs and features. A lift can have multiple features.

Each lift is operated by one or many employees, every employee may work none or multiple lifts. Employees all have the following information kept up to date: employee id, employee name consisting of first and last name, DOB, job title, and hire date. For each lift, one employee is designtated to be the safety officer. Each employee can only be the safety officer for one lift (but some are not safety officers). Since the resort may have to deal with urgent winter weather conditions, the resort has established a chain of command among the employees. This chain of command can be used to show an ordered list of the employees (for each employee, we know who is directly in charge of that employee and the employee that the employee is directly in charge of).

Multi day pass holders are considered members. Members are described by member id, composite attribute of member name (first and last), DOB, home state (2 characters), and date the membership began. Members can sign up for lessons from some staff members. When a member takes a lesson from a staff member, the date and time are recorded. (Note: this is a ternary relationship)!!! Lesson types have an ID, a description and a standard length. Each lesson type has been booked at least once.
