Please help me answer those bulleted questions. thank you
Critical-Thinking Activity (Learning Outcome 5) Guy has been working at CanAsian Airlines as your assis- tant for slightly over a year. When he started with the com- pany, you gave him the Policy and Procedures Manual for CanAsian, which includes a section on computer ethics. This section makes clear that all computers are the property of CanAsian and are not to be used for the personal use of employees. Yesterday, your supervisor, Martin Albertson, asked you why Guy had worked overtime the evening before. Mr. Albertson said that as he was leaving, at about 7 p.m., he noticed that Guy was still at his desk. He walked over to say goodnight and noticed that Guy was working on some type of project that did not appear to be related to CanAsian work. You had to answer that you knew nothing about it but that you would look into it. This afternoon, you asked Guy why he had worked late the evening before. He stated he had volun- teered to prepare a mailing list for a community organization of which he was a member but he did not have a computer at home. You thanked him for giving you the information and left to mull over what you should do. Guy has been an excep- tional employee-he never misses work; he is always on time; his work is done promptly and accurately; he is polite and understands confidentiality. In fact, in his yearly review last month, you gave him an outstanding rating. When you gave him the Policy and Procedures Manual, you did not go over it with him, but you did ask him to read it. After thinking about it overnight, you went back to Guy the next morning and asked him if he had read the Policy and Procedures Manual. When he answered yes, you asked him why he had violated the company policy on using computers for personal business. Guy told you the manual did not dis- cuss personal use of computers. He pulled it from his desk and showed you that there was no section on computer ethics. Now you are in a real quandary. Address the following items: Do you believe you made a mistake in giving Guy an incomplete Policy and Procedures Manual? Do you believe Guy is lying to you? Explain your answers. How should you handle the situation? How can you be certain in the future that employees under- stand and adhere to the Policy and Procedures Manual? After talking with Guy, what will you report to Mr. Albertson? Building Workplace Skills
