Prompt: I am a reporter at the Littletown County Free Press, a local newspaper that covers the rural area of Littletown, Washington. Like many rural areas in America, Littletown has a significant drug problem and the Littletown mayor's office has been creating many public programs to fight drugs in the area. I am assigned by your newspaper editor to shadow the mayor during a particularly busy week of action for her program. One of the stops on the mayor's tour of her drug fighting initiatives is a home down the street from city hall where police recently arrested five people for cooking methamphetamine. The mayor takes me to the sidewalk in front of the house and, along with the chief of police, explains the investigation that led to the arrest. The mayor and the chief of police invite me to come on to the property to tour the home. The home is a small two-bedroom bungalow with a picket fence surrounding it completely. To get onto the property I have to open the front gate to step on to the front steps. I follow them as they open the fenced front yard gate, and walk to the front of the house where I look in the windows. I can see trash strewn about and the remnants of drug smoking paraphernalia on the floor, so I take photos through the windows. I do not go in the home, and after a few minutes of listening to the chief's stories, I follow him and the mayor off the property. I write and publish a story the next day that outlines the events of the day and includes the photos I took from on the property. The property owner files suit for intrusion on his private property.
