Please help me with checking if the solution to this question is correct ?

Question: The Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) requires employers to pay higher wages for over time, defined as hours worked beyond 40 hours per week. Joe works at a manufacturing company and he worked 50 hours last week. Joes base rate of salary is $14 per hour, and he also earned a weekly bonus of $60 last week. In addition, the company offered a $100 bonus to all the employees last week as the end-of-year bonus. If Joe is qualified to receive overtime pay, how much overtime pay and total pay should Joe receive for the last week? Write down your calculation procedure including: 1. the employees hourly rate for last week; 2. the overtime rate; 3. the overtime pay; 4. the total pay

Solution

Hourly rate = ($60+$100)/40hs + $14/h = $18/h

Overtime rate = $18/h*1.5 = $27/h

Overtime pay = $27/h* (50hs - 40hs ) = $270

Total pay = $18/h*40hs+270 = $990
