'l ORGANIZING DATA EXPECTATION Learning Competency: Organize data in a frequency distribution table. After going through this module, you are expected to: 1. dene and understand a frequency distribution table. 2. construct a simple frequency distribution for ungrouped data. BRIEF INTRODUCTION Frequency tells you how often something happened. The frequency of an observation tells you the number of times the observation occurs in the data. For example, in the following list of numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 8, 8, 5, 3, 1, 0, 6, 3. - The frequency of the number 1 is 2, because it occurs 2 times. - The frequency of the number 2 is 1, because it occurs only once . - The frequency of the number 3 is 3, because it occurs 3 times. In statistics, a frequency distribution is a list, table or graph that displays the frequency of various outcomes in a sample. Each entry in the table contains the frequency or count of the occurrences of values within a particular group or interval. For example, twenty students were asked how many hours they study per day. Their responses, in hours, are as follows: Note: The rst column lists all the various --[[- outcomes that occur in the data, the second ".m- column are the tally used for counting and Hours Spent Studying Per Day MATHEMATICS SLEM GRADE 7 4'" QUARTER ACTIVITY l.
