1) From the paragraph below, identify by listing 1) the important entities, their attributes, and the relationships. Draw an ERD diagram using the Chen method showing the Entities and their relationships. (Use a drawing tool of your choice or PowerPoint). Extra credit for cardinality. Remember that ERDs should be general so they can be applied to any similar corporation/organization. In the U.S. alone there are around 500,000 hotels, motels, lodges and bed \& breakfast inns. All of them want customers to fill their rooms. Many of them have access to web based reservation systems, but many still operate on phone calls and fax machines. Our database represents data storage and retrieval requirements used to solve problems encountered by hotel managers, operators and travel agents on the daily basis, when dealing with hotel room availability. The database is called Hotel Room Availability Management Database System (HRAS) and contains four main types of records: hotel, reservation, customer, and room records. Every hotel has a Hotel Identification Number (ID), name, address, number of floors, number of rooms available, total number of rooms, and a standard check-in and check-out time. Each hotel has many reservations and every reservation has a reservation ID, customer, room, hotel, number of nights booked, check in day and check out day. Each room in a hotel has a room number (which also indicates room floor, as the first number in a hotel room is the level), room type (Suite, Deluxe, Standard), and number of beds (One (1) King Bed or Two (2) or more double beds), if the room is booked, it will also have a reservation number. Customers in the HRAS have a customer ID, name, phone number, address, and credit card number. When an end user (A front desk attendant, hotel manager, or travel agent) would like to check room availability, they are able to consult the HRS, which is updated by these end users as rooms are booked, as well as by housekeeping staff as rooms are cleaned and made available. 2) Explain the difference in hierarchical, network, relational, and object-oriented data models. 3) Create an ERD (Chen Diagram. UML or Crow's Foot ERD) to include the following business rules for the ProdCo company: a. Each sales representative writes many invoices. b. Each invoice is written by one sales representative. c. Each sales representative is assigned to one department. d. Each department has many sales representatives. e. Each customer can generate many invoices. f. Each invoice is generated by one customer. (Use a drawing tool of your choice or PowerPoint)
