Please help with these questions!
1. US states vary in the number of total deaths attributable to the coronavirus they have experienced over the pandemic. They also vary in their uptake of covid vaccines. Upload the data set "Covid data" into SPSS (linked below). There are three variables. The first is simply the name of each state. The second is the cumulative number of covid deaths in that state, expressed in terms of 1000 inhabitants. That is, if the number is 2, there were two deaths for every 1000 people in that state's population, equivalent to .2%. The third variable is the total number of doses administered in that state divided by the state's populationtotal doses per person. Note that, while the two numerical variables are both cumulative (and current), the deaths and doses were concentrated in different periods of time: the highest death rates occurred in the early and middle periods of the pandemic, while vaccination didn't begin until almost a year into the pandemic (depending on how you date it).
(a) In your opinion, which variable belongs on the y-axis of a scatterplot? Why?
(b) Use SPSS, excel, or by hand to produce a scatterplot in which each point represents a state, and display it.
(c) Do you see any relationship between these two variables? Would you describe it as loose or tight? Explain why.
