Next year, we'd like to grow our own tomatoes in a rectangular garden. To keep them safe from animals (and neighbours) we will need to fence in our tomato garden. We need to use exactly 242 square feet for tomato gardening. The north and south sides of the garden are largely protected by granite, so the fence can be shorter and costs only $2 a foot. The east and west sides are very open, will have to be twice as tall, and cost $4 a foot.
