One of the major points made in the article "Revisiting the Global Business Ethics Question?" is the Euthyphro question. The author reframes the Socrates' Euthyphro question to "Areprevailinganswerstoquestionsofcross-culturalbusinessethicsconflictaccepted becausetheyare right, or are they right because theyare accepted?". I agree with the author on the idea that we have to approach different cultures with an educated and sensitive attitude, however there are a lot of things I really disagree with here. The author states, "when weencountertensionimmoral standards across borders, we need to be more open than ever to the possibilityof revision." This statement almost seams contradictory to everything else that appears throughout the article. In a global economy, everyone has to be sensitive to one another's cultures. Cross-culture interactions are not one way streets. When the author uses the word "revision", he means to say that we need to be open to changing our own way of doing economics. One thing I've never understood about post-modernists is their unwillingness to accept a good thing at face value, yet they have an uncanny ability to continue to make excuses for systems that have consistently proven to be bad decade after decade since the beginning of the 20th century. Honestly, when it comes to the changing nature of the global economy, I imagine that the ethical standards which govern my future career lie in the hands of whoever controls the internet at the time. If you look across the world, different countries have entirely different ways of handling it. China has a very hands-on high-censorship approach, while the United States is more pro-individual and mostly fostering of free speech.
