Now think about a scenario you have faced in your own life or career, that did not go well, where you could have used one of the situational management techniques you now know (i.e. actively listen, manage up or down, hold someone accountable, resolve others' conflict). Reflect on ONE specific "management scenario from your past that you found particularly challenging before that you have now learned how to handle more effectively. Describe in detail: What response you might have given prior to learning new management skills/language Why this response might have been ineffective to use as a manager (and why you found the situation challenging) The new response you learned to employ, including specific language for the situation and the skill employed Why this response might be more effective for a manager to use 2. Using your past situation selected for Q1, please write out the emotional management steps you should take in such a situation in order to balance your emotions, before deciding on a course of action.
