My research question is: 'What is up with television and violence?'

I am going to study television and violence, but what specifically about the two? The idea that people who watch violent television become more violent has been studied in excess, so let's put a twist on it. Let's inquire about the television viewing habits of violent people and nonviolent people to make it more interesting. So, my question turns into: 'Do all violent people watch more violent television, and do all nonviolent people watch more nonviolent television?'

Questions

1. State my research question.

2. I must clearly identify my variables, and levels of the variables if appropriate.

3. I have to explain how I would measure my variables.

4. I have to briefly describe the sample I would use to study my research question, including the planned sample size. (I have to choose a reasonable sample size and explain why it is reasonable. I do not need to provide calculations.)

5. I must clearly identify the null hypothesis in my study?

6. What descriptive statistics would I report? Why is that choice appropriate?

7. What inferential statistical test could I use? Include a rationale based on the types of data with which I am working.

8. I have to create a hypothetical interpretation of statistically significant results: I do not fabricate data, but rather say something like "If the results of my [chosen test] were statistically significant, it would mean that ______."
