One is strongly encouraged to use the full range of the rating scale (Highly undesirable through to Highly desirable) during this assessment.
Q. 3 - Situation:
I have recently taken over an administration section of twelve permanent staff. The nature of my section's work is such that, during peak periods, I am forced to recruit large numbers of additional temporary staff. I have three experienced team leaders who are responsible for staff on a day-to-day basis. Specifically, they manage staff workload and performance/disciplinary matters. The section's performance is mediocre and has a reputation for being difficult to manage because of a few awkward individuals. Further, the team leaders do not get on, and are competing against each other. They are also reluctant to train new temporary staff. My new manager is keen to improve things and has asked me to personally intervene and expects me to achieve results quickly.
Rate the following actions:
A. Make sure that my team are given the reasons for changes which they are asked to make to their work practices.
Ans. Options:Highly Undesirable / Undesirable / Slightly Undesirable / Slightly Desirable / Desirable / Highly Desirable
ANS.
B. As the team leaders are busy with their own staff, support them by personally training up the temporary staff.
