Easy Wheels is a wheelchair company that has expanded globally from outside of the United States in which it had begun. The purpose of this memo is to debrief the areas of improvement needed, as well as the attributes of the company which have been successful. There are five key skills that as a manager you will need to utilize to successfully lead others.
- Creativity: The ongoing changes to production of new products, technologies and operating, creativity is going to need to be at its peak to remain competitive. Providing creativity gives EC the advantage of raising sales and enhancing the profit margin for the company.
- Coordinating with others: Coordinating and collaborating with others can help you form relationships, increase productivity, and develop healthy relationships within the workplace. This skill gives the opportunity to work well with vendors, suppliers and customers which increases sales and builds trust within business operations. Sharing ideas and brainstorming helps with developing effective solutions.
- Emotional intelligence: Provides the opportunity for better business decisions, the ability to motivate team members, the opportunity to support team members with empathy, and provides a safer environment to employees when they have a manager they can trust.
- Negotiation: This is essential within business because it provides the ability to create value in sales and transactions, resolve conflicts and build relationships through an objective approach. Negotiation skills can provide a solution-based approach to help achieve beneficial outcomes.
- Judgement and decision making: Helps improve productivity and ensures work is moving forward in a productive manner. Reducing conflict by active decision making also helps build trust within employees. Creating action plans for emergency situations helps minimize risk.
Additional skills that can be beneficial to management within the company is good organization, leadership, and the ability to adapt. These skill sets should be included because good organization will help keep things aligned or help enhance productive decision making. Leadership skills utilized properly can expand the companies' goals and set up for a brighter future. The ability to adapt to changes is extremely important as a manager because remaining calm, while being able to establish decisions quickly can be tough but it is necessary for the growth and overall performance of a business.
Two skills that as a manager that there is remove for improvement would be negotiation and creativity. Negotiating can be uncomfortable for managers, especially new ones. Being comforted behind your stance, especially going into a conversation where someone does not agree with your stance can be intimidating. Negotiating can be extremely productive for businesses. As a manager creativity is very important but being heavily influenced by outsiders is easy. Creativity if not utilized can lead to lack of morale and increase frustration. Emotional intelligence and decision making are strong skills as a manager that are possessed. Emotional intelligence is used daily. Controlling your emotions and thinking logically not emotionally is extremely important to conflict resolution. Decision making is not a hard task as a manager. Decision making while having the ability to see things from multiple viewpoints can be the difference of how well the team collaborates.
