Integrate what you learned from at least 3 of this week's resources to discuss how advances in communication technology have changed society for better and worse. Be sure to provide citations and a corresponding reference list.

What I learned from Sherry Turkle: That technology has made us so addicted and it has become difficult to have time not only for yourself but also for family and loved ones. The technology was surely created for a good cause which is to help the world develop. But its creation has prevented us from seeing the consequences that it could create in the future. There is also a lack of awareness, common sense has disappeared in some people and there is more distraction with new technology than education. I'm not saying technology is a hundred percent bad but I do think the good side is less influential than the bad side of technology. "People are compelled by that little red light on the blackberry. To tell them a message is waiting. They talk about Their devices as the place for hope in their life, a place where something new can come, where loneliness can be defeated" (Turkle ,2011). Nowadays, people no longer like to read books to learn or nourish their knowledge. But he prefers to stay in front of their phones, tablets, computers and be distracted, even forget their priority in life.

What can we learn about people from their social media?

It talks about how social media has a big influence on our lives and how it impacts certain decisions or behaviors that we have in our everyday life. Technology can influence us for good just as it can also influence us for bad. I would say the majority of the world use at least one or more social media account. "Social media use and personality has focused on the big 5 personality traits... Which are: Extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness, neuroticism" (Seidman, 2020). It is a good source of communication and learning just as it can also be a source of destruction. But for the most part, it's just a way to show what their perfect life looks like when it isn't.

Dark Age is about how people of antiquity or the past kept records of their culture, history, and memory. As the years progress, these same means used in the past, become habitual, rusty, and no longer have the capacity to be understood, read, and shared. It wasn't until the 2000s that there was a new way to store memories and important data for future use.

Sherry Turkle is a well-known psychologist who has written extensively about the impact of technology on relationships. Although the video in your learning resources is from 2011, much of what she has to say is still pertinent. Amanda Case calls herself a cyber anthropologist and has also spoken about technology and social relationships. After reviewing both of these videos, compare and contrast Turkle and Case's perspectives. What points made by either or both of these speakers resonated with you and why?

The common point between the two speakers and that young teenagers have this desire to always be hooked on their phones, tablets, or even computers even when there is nothing to do or even when they do not receive any notifications. It's a thing called "addiction". People have run out of patience and want the thing to be done in less than a few seconds.

The point that made me think a lot is the addiction that human beings have to their telephone. Now, no one can go even an hour or more without touching their phone or any other types of technology like video games and others. People forget their priorities in life and it's more focused on being distracted, focusing on things that waste their time instead of looking for things that can nurture their knowledge and grow intellectually.
