you will read and prpare a written critique of a peer-reviewed research article.

Instructions:

Step 1: Using the library's databases, you will locate and read a research study of your choice (from a scientific, peer-reviewed journal) on a topic of relevance to personality psychology.

To determine if the article you've located is appropriate for this assignment, it should include the following sections: 1) Methods, 2) Results/Findings, and 3) Discussion/Conclusions.

Step 2: After reading the article, respond to the questions below (in your own wods) in approx. 2-3 peg

Introduction

1) Research questions: What were the researchers trying to learn from this study?

2) Statement of the problem: What is the problem the researchers have identified? That is, why

did the study need to be conducted? Why was it important for this study to be conducted?

3) Hypotheses: Did the researchers offer any hypotheses (if so, what were they)?

Methods

4) Research design: Briefly define each of the research methods you learned about in this course. Then, identify which type of method(s) the study you read used, and explain WHY you believe so.

5) Variables: What were the variables of the study?

6) Sample: Briefly describe the participants. For example, how many participants were in the

study? How were participants selected/recruited? What was the sample like (for example,

number of men vs. women, average age, racial/ethnic background)?

7) Assessments: Briefly describe each of the assessment methods/tools you learned about in this

course. Next, identify which method(s) were used in this study and briefly describe the specific instruments/measures used.

Results & Conclusions:

8) Results: What were the results of the study? That is, what did the researchers find? 9) Implications: How can the findings of the study be used to inform future research or clinical

practice? 10)Strengths & Limitations: What were the strengths and limitations of the study (in the opinion of

the author and/or yourself)? Explain WHY you believe these are strengths and limitations.
