How does this image of working women in the mid$-1800$s contradict the image of the "True Woman" of the Victorian era you read about last week in the textbook? In what ways were these women who worked in the mills influential in changing perceptions of women's roles and capabilities in an increasingly industrialized world?

Can you think of other examples in American history in which women worked together to improve their situation in the workplace? While obviously influential, in what ways is the modern workplace $($late $20$th$-21$st century$)$ still present struggles for women who work?
