  1. Please read the text below and based on the information provided answer the questions posed at the end. Andrew is the CEO of a car manufacturing factory (Chrysler) located in Windsor, Ontario. A few months ago, he needed to hire a new financial manager and since he was familiar with the type and Temperament theories of personality he was looking for someone with an SJ temperament for this job. He mentioned that since this is a job that needs a great degree of attention to details and procedures, an SJ individual would perform very well in that role. Andrew was successful in finding a candidate with an SJ temperament for the job. Her name was Lisa. Lisa started pretty well and her motivation for work was great for the first few months. However, after a while, Andrew realized that the amount of effort Lisa put into her work had declined dramatically. Andrew has been thinking what he can do to motivate Lisa again. Andrew is confident that the amount of salary and bonuses he gives Lisa is higher than any other similar organization in Windsor. He believes that in such a male dominated industry Lisa should be happy to receive a salary almost as high as other male employees who do the exact same job at Chrysler. Andrew has offered Lisa a private office on the third floor so she can focus on her work without being bothered by all the noise in the open-plan office on the second floor. So, he is sure that distractions from others wouldn't be the cause of her low performance. Andrew knows that he should not put too much pressure on Lisa and therefore tries his best not to micromanage her. It is always up to Lisa to decide when she wants to complete her tasks. The only thing Andrew would say to Lisa is "you know what is required of you....just do it best". This level of freedom is rarely found in any other workplace, Andrew says. To encourage her further, Andrew is planning to give Lisa the title of Director. He thinks that since Lisa is already an accomplished person she expects to have more power in the organization, since power is one of humans' most fundamental needs. Last year, Andrew obtained a certificate in work motivation from the University of Ottawa and learned about the Maslow's theory and the importance of employee need satisfaction on the job. He knows that employees' more basic needs such as physiological and safety needs should be satisfied first so they can move towards self-actualization. Therefore, he is planning to equip all offices with advanced electronic locks to enhance employees' feeling of security so they don't worry about their personal stuff when they are not at work. He has also placed fire extinguishers in all rooms and corridors to enhance the feeling of safety in employees. Which of Andrew's actions/plans/beliefs about Lisa's motivation are right and which ones are wrong? Why? (Explain the reasons clearly AND mention the name of the thoery you are basing your answers on, if applicable).
