Brooke O'Halloran 9:51am I learned that Mr. Nieves has an intense background in hospitality. He started otf as front desk at the San Jose Fairmont hotel which is now the Hilton Signia. He now works in senior living. He thinks it is important to learn your product inside and out, get to know your competition, know and identify your target audience, and be able to explain and know why you are different from your competitors. By learning your product {hotel}. he needed to know how many rooms they had, square footage for meeting space, hotel amenities such as restaurants and conveniences like the nearby light rail for easy transportab'on. I think this is amazing advice because who are you to sell a product when you have no idea about it. Mr; Nieves performed this by trying to sell us an iPhone when he had no idea about it. The class did not trust his opinion because he seemed unsure and could not answer questions about the product. (-\\ Reply Nieves taught us how finding your target market is important and how unique your company should be for the customer to choose you and your company. He use to work at the Fairmont in San Jose and he had to make sure how many rooms, the hotel space, and basically the city all around. He had to know the longevity of the hotel and sell the product so he was successful in his business. It's interesting how you really need to know the product in order to make sure that your customer feels confident in their decision. He even had to know the light rail for people that visit San Jose and how to get around where they are going. Some customers would not find much confidence in you if you don't know the product very well which will decrease your revenue. He also worked in a retirement home which he had to also know what hospitals were around for the guest staying in the retirement home and nurses that were working there. ReplyStep by Step Solution
