- Assume that you are the Human Resource Manager Vijay Gill for your finance company Financially Sound.
- You have received an email from Sonia Keller, a Credit Specialist within your company. She does not report to you directly, but you are in charge of many human resource areas and have responsibility for HR requests.
- Sonia has emailed you with a request to work from home every day in order to balance work and home life.
- You have a good relationship with Sonia, and she is an excellent employee who never fails to produce results, takes very few sick days, and is never late for work.
- However, you cannot grant this request. The company has a specific policy which requires those employees who meet with clients as part of their job to work from the office in order to conduct the meetings. Due to confidentiality, certain files are not permitted to leave the company or be accessed from home. This means certain parts of the job cannot be completed at home. Additionally, no other employee has been allowed to work from home exclusively and the company does not make exceptions to the policies in place.
