Recently while on Facebook, I saw a photo that a friend posted, with a grey background with words that read, let go of something old that no longer serves you to make room for something new. This post positively impacted my mental health because I have struggled to let go of my siblings. My siblings and I grew up in unfortunate circumstances, which will always affect us. However, it seems to have impacted my siblings significantly more than myself and, as such, causes conflict. I try to maintain or create healthy boundaries and offer support even when their behavior is unlovable. My sister recently stopped talking to me because she stole 500$ from me, and I dared to ask for it back. This is heartbreaking for me. Even though she has done far worse in the past, the fact that she has stopped speaking to me entirely since that interaction after all of the forgiveness and understanding I have shown her has been challenging for me. The post helped me realize that I was holding onto the hope of one day being a healthy family, but that has not served me. I need to let go; maybe someone else will come into my life that I can love, like a sister.

I believe my friend posted this photo because it must have resonated with her on some level as well. It is hard to pinpoint the why since I did not ask her, but I imagine she had to have felt an impact from the words as they applied to her life. I do not believe my friend had a target audience, but she reached her goal of sharing these thoughtful words with others who might need to hear them, as they affected me strongly. The post was a reel that lasted only 24 hours on her feed, and there were no additional links, images, charts, etc.

The top quality that makes compelling social media posts is relatability. If a large audience can relate to the content you share, you will likely reach your goal. This could mean impacting someone's day, trying to sell items, or gaining followers. The common denominator is always creating likable, relatable content.
