Please respond whether you agree or disagree with the following point of view. Please explain.

"In my opinion, I believe only some states would have used their power to prohibit discrimination in such places as public areas and employment. The Civil Rights Act provides protection from discrimination and when violated, the penalties faced can be fines or even imprisonment for a set period of time. Without the Civil Rights Act in place, discrimination on race, sex, color, religion, or national origin can be easily looked over and ignored. The majority of public areas, public accommodations, and employment stations would be segregated as people would rarely come together to help the U.S. grow as a country. Police would most likely favor whites instead of African Americans and would not be where they are at today since they had limited access to certain resources and education. This affects other minorities like Asians, Hispanics, Jewish, Arabs, and many more as they try to fit into society together looking for opportunities in the States. Women would also not be treated in the same manner as today since they were stereotyped into specific jobs and social roles. They did not have the same freedom as men to do what they wanted and were restricted from voting, property rights, and most employment."
