Case 1:

Mrs. Price, a spectator at a hockey game, brought civil action against the hockey club for damages for injuries she received during the game from a flying hockey puck which struck her in the eye.

Case 2:

Bill, angry at Hilary, took Hilary's key ring. This contained Hilary's house keys and car keys. She had no other keys. Hilary followed Bill, demanding return of the keys. Because she felt she could not lock her house without possession of the keys, she was reluctant to stay with Bill. But because Bill had the keys to both house and car, she was reluctant to leave him. She went with him, alternately pleading and demanding the keys. Bill drove to his house in the country with Hilary tagging along. When they arrived, he gave Hilary her keys. She had to walk eight miles before she could get transportation. Fortunately, her house had not been burgled in her absence. Has she any tort claims against Bill?

Case 3:

Linda entered the men's restroom of her favorite single's bar and wrote a few lines on the wall suggesting that Ginger would be a delightful companion for men with certain proclivities. She then wrote Ginger's phone number. A number of men called with various indecent proposals. This continued over a long period of time until Ginger found the source and had it removed. Does Ginger have any tort claims against Linda?

Case 4:

Dan is an employee of Sam's Diner. While stacking bottles of Kula Cola in the restaurant's refrigerator, he observed a large dead cockroach in one of the sealed bottles of Kula. He placed that bottle in the refrigerator along with the others. Later that day, Prue and Prim, two elderly women, came into the diner together and sat at the counter. Each ordered a bottle of Kula from Dan. It was Dan's last day on the job at the diner and he wanted to have some fun at Sam's expense, because he felt that he and other employees had been unfairly treated by Sam. Hoping to cause Sam embarrassment, Dan served the contaminated bottle of Kula to Prue. Prue had almost finished the bottle of Kula when she saw the dead cockroach in it. She shrieked, fainted, and fell off the stool, receiving injuries to her hip. Prim then saw the cockroach in Prue's bottle, and, becoming nauseated, she rushed to the restroom. Bye, another customer at the diner, saw Prue fall to the ground unconscious and proceeded to attempt to revive her by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. At this moment, Prim returned from the restroom and when she saw what Bye was doing, she struck him on the head with her purse, causing a concussion. Discuss the liabilities and theories involved in each of the possible lawsuits arising from this fact pattern.
