Please rewrite each paragraph ( minimum 100 words for each paragraph):
- PURPOSE: I will be discussing the article "Coming out: Living Authentically as Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans", and the article "Decolonizing Queerness in the Philippines (a comic trip)". The goal of both articles this week is to understand deeply two concepts of Queer and Homophobia as well as to understand the difficulties that the LGBTQ API community is facing before discrimination, and how decolonization reduces homophobic discrimination beliefs.
- CONCEPTS:
+ Homophobia: Homophobia is a term that refers to a person who dislikes or hates homosexuality. They have many
negative feelings about the LGBTQ API community, such as contempt, prejudice, aversion, hatred, or antipathy. According to the article, "Decolonizing Queerness in the Philippines (a comic trip)", "BAKLA" is the words to humiliate and shame LGBTQ people, especially those with Femme characteristics. Moreover, according to the article, "Coming out: Living Authentically as Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans", In some countries, LGBTQ identities are still criminalized. In too many places, LGBTQ people are censored, jailed, tortured, or even put to death. Others might come from conformist societies in which the LGBTQ community may be shunned or ostracized. All the above behaviors are manifestations of homophobia and discrimination. Homophobia itself is a tool of colonial oppression.
+ Queer: Some people use the adjective queer to describe their sexual orientation, which is not exclusively
heterosexual or straight. It's an umbrella term for people who identify as non-binary or gender-fluid. Queer has a broad connotation that includes gay, lesbian, transgender, or asexual people. According to the article, "Decolonizing Queerness in the Philippines (a comic trip)", "LAKBAY" is the reverse word of "BAKLA", and it is a symbol that not only humanizes queer and trans-identities, but it supports and uplifts them as well, in ways that the limitations of homosexuality cannot. At the time of stonewall, many people embraced the identity of drag queen. Gender and sexuality do not represent human nature. For example, I am a Filipino before I am queer. "Filipino" describes everything I am.
