To assist our operation, we now turn to the type of intelligence needed to accomplish our mission. To begin our surveillance, we must turn to Open source intelligence (OSINT) as it provides information that is public. Open source information can provide valuable information in regards to al-Qaeda's activities and capabilities. The information collected from this source is not secret; however, that is not a requirement to deem in valuable. OSINT is an endless supply of information that contributes to our understanding of the world (Central Intelligence Agency, 2018). The information collected in the intelligence cycle helps develop all source intelligence. By utilizing this discipline, we are more likely to collect more information that derives from human, signals, imagery, measurement and signals, and open source intelligence. This effort develops reinforcing information and corroborates key data points. The largest advantage of all source is that each discipline is suited to collect a particular type of data that allows our organization to examine all facets of the target and will aid in gaining a better understanding of the operation (Federation of American Scientists).
