Create the Budget and Input worksheet containing the required input values to use in the needed calculations and comparisons. Design of this worksheet are up to your discretion; however, you should use formatting to provide visual cues for data entry and ensure the workbook is easy to use and understand without in-person explanation or instruction (i.e., you should be able to pass it over to someone and have them confidently use it without you having to explain anything. 1)Create a table with the following columns: "Activity", "Time Spent (hours)", and "Percentage of Total Time." 2) In the "Activity" column, list all the activities you do in a typical week, such as "Classes", "Studying", "Exercise", "Socializing", etc. 3) In the "Time Spent (hours)" column, estimate how many hours you currently spend on each activity in a typical week. In the "Percentage of Total Time" column, calculate the percentage of your total time that each activity takes up. For example, if you spend 20 hours on classes and a total of 40 hours on all activities, classes take up 50% of your total time (20 / 40 0.5). 4) Use the SUM function to calculate the total number of hours you spend on all activities in a typical week. 5) Set a goal for the percentage of your total time that you want to spend on each activity. For example, you might want to spend 30% of your time on classes, 20% on studying, and so on. 6) Use the Goal Seek feature to adjust the "Time Spent (hours)" for each activity so that it aligns with your desired percentage of total time. To do this, select the cell containing the percentage for each activity and then go to the Data tab and click on the "What-If Analysis" button. Choose Goal Seek from the drop-down menu and enter the cell containing the percentage as the "Set Cell," the cell containing the "Time Spent (hours)" as the "To Value," and the cell containing the total number of hours as the "By Changing Cell." Click "OK" to run the Goal Seek. Review the results of the Goal Seek and make any necessary adjustments to your time budget. 7) This sheet should also contain the current date and calculations to determine both the start of the month and the date of the first Monday of the month. This is the day that you will begin recording your activities. 8) Apply conditional formatting to highlight totals that are above, equal to, or below 24 hours, as appropriate.
