Critical thinking often centers on recognizing limitations and assumptions in our judgments.

In some exercises you were asked to consider how there may be more or less obvious needs, or purposes, for technologies, and that clear definition of need to be met is necessary to define a successful technical or engineering response. Try to list out or diagram the functions and needs met of a modern smart phone, not only for the owner/user, but for the companies involved in making the phone, the apps and software, as well as the people around the cellphone user. How many different needs, and solutions, are mixed up in the one device? The goal here isn't necessarily to evaluate or judge, but to consider how many and different the various needs and solutions are. You should identify at least 5 needs, and for each one, identify how that need is different for different groups.
