BioStat/Project 3 Page 3 of 4- 4. In a breeding experiment, white chickens with small combs were mated and produced 190 off- spring of the types shown in the table below. The hypothetical probabilities according to the Mendelian genetic theory are: P(White feather, small comb) = 9/16, P(White feather, large comb) = 3/16 P(Dark feather, small comb) = 3/16, P(Dark feather, large comb) = 1/16 Type Number of offspring White feather, small comb 111 White feather, large comb 37 Dark feather, small comb 34 Dark feather, large comb 8 Total 190 (a) We have discussed 3 different y tests: Goodness of Fit, Independence Test and Homogene- ity Test. Which test should you run for the information given and how do you know? (b) Calculate the expected values for the observed values in the table. Do these pass the greater than 5 criteria for the expected values? (c) Perform the x2 test you decided upon to see if the number of offspring follow the Mendelian Genetic Theory. Of course, include your hypotheses, test code and output, and a well written conclusion
