1. Click the PhET Simulation link and then select "Friction". You may check on as many boxes in the top right as you need, but do not move the friction slider. If you are concerned that it may have moved, press the orange reset button. Use the box (or any mass that isn't the fridge) to do the following: a. Determine the coefficient of static friction of the floor (object material does not matter in this simulation) b. Determine the coefficient of kinetic friction of the floor (object material does not matter in this simulation) Reset the simulation, turn on all the checkboxes that you would like, and replace the box with the present. C. Determine the mass of the present 2. Somehow you've found yourself on a horizontal icy (frictionless) cliff, sliding towards the edge! You are moving at a constant velocity [Right], towards the edge of the cliff. All you have with you is a heavy backpack filled with bricks (why? I'm not sure...). How would you save yourself? Explain your method using the concepts that we learned in class. Marks will be given for: a. Using proper vocabulary b. Correct application of the concepts C. Linking the slide(s) which discuss the concept(s) that you used
