Think about leaders you have worked with in the past - this might be an employer, a coach, a teacher, a club supervisor, a team captain, or a fellow student. Think about a future workplace environment and reporting to your manager. What kind of leader do you want to work for?

1. What are the top five personal characteristics of a manager you would like to work for? (5 marks)
2. Why is each of these characteristics important to you? (5 marks)
3. Identify three personal characteristics you feel would make for a poor manager/leader. (3 marks)
4. How would each of those characteristics hinder a manager's ability to lead a staff? (3 marks)
5. Look at the lists posted by two peers. Identify one characteristic (either good or bad) that each peer identified that you did not. Do you agree with each characteristic? Explain why or why not. (6 marks)

First peer:

1. What are the top five personal characteristics of a manager you would like to work for? (5 marks) Patience, respect, workplace, communication and time management. 1. Why is each of these characteristics important to you? (5 marks) Eaxch of these characteristics are important to me as I think that would make a great manager as it would be your way. I would like patience because patience is key in getting work done, respect is a huge one as your manager needs to respect you or else it won't go good, workplace is good as I find a work place is a good place to work at, communication is big because you need to communicate with your manager as you go to him for everything job related and lastly time management is big because you have to communicate with your managers about your life's time management, 1. Identify three personal characteristics you feel would make for a poor manager/leader. (3 marks) Lack of adaptability, lack of communication and little vision for the future. 1. How would each of those characteristics hinder a manager's ability to lead a staff? (3 marks) Adaptability is a big one because if you don't adapt to all situations needed then it will be a gong show. Lack of communication is a bad thing cause if you don't communicate with anyone they would be stuck by themself. Lastly no vision for the future is bad as they would only deal with things happening right at the moment whether then future jobs.
