PART ONE

1) A time when you were struggling and someone failed to empathize with you. Describe the situation. What did this person say or do (perhaps in the name of being helpful) that resulted in more disconnection than connection?

2) A time when someone empathized with you. How did you feel when that happened?

3) Finally, write a time when you failed to empathize with someone you cared about. How might you move forward when you face a similar situation again?

3. Benefits of greater connection in your personal life might seem obvious, but what are possible benefits of greater connection in the workplace or school?
