5. Should there be a separate law against hate crimes or do we have sufficent laws currently in effect? Why or why not?

Lesson 13

1. Explain the role of crime analysts. How effective are they?

2. Explain how computerization changed the concepts involved in crime mapping.

3. Explain hot spot theory and what constitutes a hot spot and the issues with hot spots.

4. Explain the privacy issues involved in crime mapping. Do you agree or disagree with making crime analysis and mapping public?

Lesson 14

1. Define the term futuristic. How does it relate to community policing?

2. Describe the duties and responsibilities of a first responder.

3. Can we win the war on terrorism? Justify your opinion.

4..Describethe U.S. critical infrastructure. How safe is it? Do we need to do more to protect the system? Why or why not?

5. President Obama set up a task force to look at policing in the 21st century. The Task Force document can be found in its entirety under Course Documents Lesson 13. Do you believe the task force recommendations (6 pillars) are possible to achieve? Why or why not?
