Poppyhas stopped by her favorite coffee shop, The Deep Bean Co. and is delighted to discover that they now stock her favorite coffee, vanilla raspberry twist, in pods. So their coffee can now be enjoyed at home!

Poppy grabs a couple of packs of vanilla raspberry pods and checks out the label. She is unsure as to whether they will fit her Immipresso Coffee machine at home or she needs a special machine for these pods.

The pack reads as follows:

'The world's highest quality coffee grown in the Maya highlands in Guatemala, 4,500 feet above sea level, in small boutique organic farms.'

'Environmentally friendly. Packaging (including pods) of the product is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.'

Poppy is very impressed by this information, but cannot see any information regarding the type of coffee machine these pods are suitable to. Upon her query, the Barista at the counter has informed her that she needs a Deep Bean Instapress machine which is $99.95.

After thinking it over, Poppy decides to purchase the machine along with a pretty floral expresso cup, a treat for herself after passing her midterms with distinctions. When Lira arrives home that afternoon she sets up her new Coffee machine and takes out the coffee pods.

Shortly after placing the tea pods into the new coffee machine, the machine starts to growl, gets very hot to the touch and starts smoking. Poppy tries to disconnect it from electricity, but the cord is so hot, that he burns his hand. The expresso cup has also cracked from the heat of the coffee.

She is also very upset to discover that although cardboard box is made from recycled materials and the pods are biodegradable, the pods are packaged in plastic which is neither recyclable nor biodegradable. Poppy also notices that the pods are the exact same size as the pods she has at home and that they work perfectly in her Immipresso machine.

Poppy packs up the machine and heads back to The Deep Bean. The barista is sympathetic to her story but shows her the refund policy which he keeps on shelf behind the counter. "No refunds on any items. The Deep Bean Co. absolves itself of all liability for any of its products."

Poppy is pretty mad and wants to contact the manufacturers, however, the box says that the machine is made in Thailand but does not give the details of a manufacturer.

On leaving the store Poppy overhears some of the workers who are on the break outside, - one of them is talking pretty loudly and she is sure she head him saying that the coffee beans don't really come from Guatemala, well a percentage of them do, but only a really small percentage. Largely they are mixed with beans that the company picks up cheap locally.

Advise Poppy on her rights under Australian Consumer Law.
