Potential of flooding/Storm Surge in North Vancouver. As a GIS analyst at North Vancouver, you have been tasked by the city hall to create a risk map that highlights areas with a high risk of flooding or storm surge. Specifically, the focus of this exercise is on areas with the low elevation at, or below, 10 meters that lie up to 1 kilometer inland from the shoreline . Your primary objective is to develop four maps that will help identify areas at risk of flooding due to storm surges. The first two maps should provide an overview of North Vancouver and all areas at risk of potential storm surge flooding. The third map should provide a more refined analysis of the potential storm surge risk by identifying areas of potential flooding based on elevation within 1 kilometer of the shoreline. Lastly, you should create a map that highlights all roads that may be affected by potential flooding. 2. The Data See below table:

  1. Use 1 meter contour map (ElvContours1m ) to get only low(
  2. Combine the 1 km buffer and the lowlands (10m and under) with polygon overlay toolintersectto create area of potential flood from storm surge (low elevation, within 1km shore
  3. Use select by location to select Bike routes located inside of the flood risk zone to
  4. Create map of roads that fall within potential flood.
