Power in Practice Case: TikTok takes over the World

TikTok is one of the most frequently used social media platforms today. It may be because it is so easy and fast to use. Maybe it's because posts are easy, addictive and everywhere. Making and posting videos is easier than ever.

Recently, TikTok has been questioned and scrutinized by parents, individual users, businesses, and even our government as a matter of national security. The argument pits first amendment rights against protecting private and government information. With TikTok being a subsidiary of a foreign-owned corporation, the US Government has brought to light and debated concerns from all sides. Business and entrepreneurs use this outlet to market new products, small business uses it to get expand their reach, and middle-American and everyday citizens use it to share their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. This debate is the intersection of Business, Society, and Government.

The timing couldn't be more aligned with the concepts covered this semester in this course.
