Pre-Lab (P221) \"MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU\" E In this lab we seek to give you practice with identifying forces acting on an object, and how some of those forces and the motion (if any) of the object may depend on forces over which you may have direct control. In this prelab, we give you practice constructing and understanding free body diagrams. Read the introduction and theory sections of the experiment's description (the "write-up\"). Pay close attention to the procedure for analyzing forces using Newton's second law. Then complete the following exercises and submit this form to Canvas by the due date. You should be able to print this, write your answers in the open spaces and scan the pages in for submission. Please write clearly and use a scan feature on your phone or a copier, rather than just taking pictures, to make sure the images are easy to read. BLOC K . With nothing attached to the block, and following the procedure for analyzing forces in the experimental write-up, draw a free body diagram of the forces acting on the aluminum block. Write the second law equation for the forces acting on the block below: Normal Forces and Reaction Forces A large aluminum block is placed on a balance. Looking at the free body diagram, identify the normal force acting on the aluminum block. Also identify the Newton's-third-law complement to the normal force acting on the block (i.e. the "reaction force")
