Prepare a closing worksheet similar to the closing worksheets you prepared in previous accounting classes at year-end except this is for the general fund instead of for a company. To prepare the worksheet, you would list the accounts on the left in chart of accounts order. Then, you would put the amounts in a debit or credit column. The trial balance in the original problem is just fine except that the accounts are not quite in chart of accounts order. A worksheet does not have dollar signs and it does not have headings in the list of accounts like "assets." It just has a list of accounts. After you have put the amounts for the trial balance into either a debit or credit column, you will use two more columns, debit and credit, for the amounts for the accounts used in the statement of revenues expenditures and changes in fund balance. You do not have to list the account names again, just put the numbers on the same line. You will then have two more column for the information for the balance sheet.
