Prepare Submission Letter and Explanatory Memorandum Srategic submission letters are a way for consultants to provide value to their clients. A good submission letter will clearly and concisely explain to the visa officer why your client's application should be accepted and will address possible concerns with the file. First, you will have to draft a submissionletter to include with a client's application, based on a set of given facts and materials. The letter may require you to engage in case law research and to think through an ethics issue. Second, you will submit a one-page explanatory memorandum (maximum two hundred and fifty words), setting out strategic and ethical choices you made in preparing the letter. Application of Foundational Knowledge (60%): On the substance of the letter and your explanation of that substance. For instance, does the letter clearly address potential issues with your client's file? your choices in preparing the letter reflect decisions that conform to the CICC Code of Professional Conduct? Communication and Advocacy (40%): The brevity, concision and clarity of the submissions letter. Is your writing free of spelling and grammar errors. Does your submission letter contain all of the essential elements of professional legal communications (e.g., is the receiver clearly identified? is the letter dated? does the subject line clearly indicate the type of application, legal authority, etc.?) The basic facts of the file are as follows: Mr. Monte currently resides in Surrey, British Columbia while under the authority of an LMIA-supported Work Permit that is valid until January 27, 2025. He is currently employed by a Canadian manufacturing company as an Industrial Electrician. Mr. Monte has a wife, a 14-year old son, and a 20-year old daughter. His 20-year old daughter also has a son who was born out of wedlock. Her son's father died before he was born. Mr. Monte's family members are currently living in the Philippines with whom he visits every Christmas. His last visit was December 2023. Mr. Monte has a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and over twenty years of experience in the industry having been employed by several manufacturing corporations throughout his professional tenure in positions that were related to his current position in Canada. In this regard, he has worked 2 years in Saudi Arabia (2013-2015), 8-months in Australia (2016), and prior to arriving in Canada, he was in South Korea for 3 years (2017-2019) on intermittent assignments - returning to his home in the Philippines every 5 months. Mr. Monte has been in touch with his previous employers to secure letters of employment to support his application. He has been unable to obtain a letter from his previous employer in Australia. Given this was only an eight month contract, he asks that you exclude this work experience from his application. During his travels for work, his family members never accompanied him. They remained in the Philippines. He has been working in Canada for the same employer on a full time basis for the past 4 years. Having been found eligible as a CEC candidate, he entered into the Express Entry system. His CRS score was 454. To boost his CRS, he applied to the BC Provincial Nominee Program through the Skilled Worker Stream. He was successful in getting a nomination from the province and gained an additional 600 points. A few weeks ago, it was his birthday and coincidentally, he also received an invitation to apply (ITA)! He currently has 45 days remaining to file his application for PR. Mr. Monte has $15,000 CAD in savings and a house in the Philippines. His family members (his wife, 14-year old son, 20-year old daughter and grandson) intend to immigrate with him.
