Pretend that you have been assigned to serve as a juror on a tort case and determine the outcome of a lawsuit. The evidence you should consider includes only the testimony you heard from the parties at trial and the items in the Evidence Packet. In a real jury, you would be one of several other jurors. The rules in the jurisdiction in which your jury service took place would determine if the juries' decision has to be unanimous. Your jury would also select one person to act as the Foreperson [formally called either the Foreman or Forewoman]). Because of the nature of an internet class, doing this exercise as a group is difficult. Therefore, you will act as a jury of one in order to decide the case. More accurately, you will be essentially deciding this case as would a judge in a bench trial. The assignment is worth 25 points.
