Principles of Human Resources 1029 Group Assignment (15%) Due: Aug 2, 2023 Objective: To demonstrate your knowledge of various HR functions by working in teams of 5 to formulate an HR Department for a fictitious company All members of the team must contribute to the work. Method: The team is expected to design an HR Department for a fictitious company of their choice. Your company is brand new, it is private sector and non-union with approximately 500 employees. It is up to you to choose the type of business, company name and structure. You are only recruiting the members of the HR department you have structured. You will write a paper that includes: 1. an introduction that describes your fictitious company and its business objectives. 2. an organization chart that you create showing a breakdown of the HR Department (use job titles) as well as the top executives of the other departments that are at the same level as the senior HR job. 3. a job description for each position in the HR Department 4. a recruitment and selection strategy for each job in HR 5 interview questions that will be posed to candidates for each HR jobs. The paper should be no longer than 14 pages, double spaced including Bibliography and cover. (Arial 11pt.) Superior work will reflect the use of credible research in meeting the requirements of this assignment. MLA format should be used to cite references. Late assignments will not be accepted. Plagiarism in the paper will result in a mark of 0. Your paper should: Describe the organization and the department where your recruitment and selection process will take place. Give a brief overview of your business; i.e. locations, head office, sales etc. Explain the number of HR jobs your recruitment and selection process is designed to fill and the time period for each step of your process. Identify whether the job and positions are permanent or temporary; and full or part-time. Show the selection criteria you have prepared. Outline the specific recruitment methods of your process and explain why you have chosen each. Describe how you will conduct initial screening of applicants. Discuss any selection testing you will conduct and why. Describe the number and types of interview questions that you will use.. Discuss the background and reference checks you will conduct. Show how and when you will provide candidates information about your selection decisions Include a reference list of all sources of information used to prepare the report. Please check to be sure that you have sources for books, journal articles, proprietary tools and any other sources of information that you may use for this assignment. Class Presentation: This should be a brief overview of what you documented in your report. You should use Powerpoint for the presentation. Make sure your slides are bullet points, not paragraphs. All members should participate and this should be no longer than a 10 minutepresentation. So, for example, you will not read through every job description. You are presenting the highlights of your project. Please note: group members can be dismissed from a group. If students are encountering a problem with a group member in meeting requirements, after addressing the problem as a group with the group member, if there fails to be any resolution, they should advise me of the issue. Any dismissed group members will be required to complete the assignment on their own with a 20% penalty. Do not wait until the assignment is due to advise me of problems with the group.
