Pro and Cons of the following company!
The financial statement of The Procter & Gamble Company provides segmented financial information on five reportable segments: Beauty, Grooming, Health Care, Fabric & Home Care, and Baby, Feminine & Family Care.
The Beauty segment is comprised of hair care (conditioner, shampoo, styling aids, treatments); skin and personal care (antiperspirant and deodorant, personal cleansing, skin care). This segment is 18% of sales by business unit. Over the past three reporting years, 2014, 2015, and 2016, this segment has declined each year in net sales and net earnings; however, their capital expenditures have increased each year.
The Grooming segment is comprised of shave care (female and male blades & razors, pre- and post-shave products, other shave care) and appliances. This segment is 9% of sales by business unit and has experienced the same pattern as Beauty in net sales and capital expenditures.
The Health Care segment is comprised of oral care (toothbrushes, toothpaste, other oral care) and personal health care (gastrointestinal, rapid diagnostics, respiratory, vitamins/minerals/supplements, other personal health care). This segment is 8% of sales by business unit and has a slight decrease in net sales over the last three years, as well as capital expenditures; however, this segment saw an increase in net earnings.
The Fabric & Home Care segment is comprised of fabric care (fabric enhancers, laundry additives, laundry detergents) and home care (air care, dish care, P&G professional, surface care). This segment is 32% of sales by business unit. Despite being the largest percentage of business unit sales, this segments net sales has seen a consistent decline; however, they have seen an increase in net earnings and a substantial decrease in capital expenditures.
The last segmented reporting is for the Baby, Feminine & Family Care segment. This segment is comprised of baby care (baby wipes, diapers and pants); feminine care (adult incontinence, feminine care); and family care (paper towels, tissues, toilet paper). This segment is 28% of sales by business unit. Like the other segments, this segment has also seen decreases in net sales, net earnings, and capital expenditures.
