Probation and Parole are criminal justice processes that are implemented in lieu of jail. Simply put, the person could/should be in jail, but the criminal justice system has allowed that person to live in the community. However, this individual is required and has agreed to abide by certain rules and conditions that govern his/her behavior. If the individual conducts themselves in a manner that fails this requirement, the system tells the person that he/she will be returned to jail and serve out their sentence in a custodial setting. WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IF THIS PERSON FAILS TO LIVE UP TO THOSE RESPONSIBILITIES?
