PROBLEM 1 (40 POINTS) Figure 1 shows the power curve for a wind turbine with the rated power of 1 MW (i.e. 10 Watt). Using the 1-D momentum equation and actuator disc theory, estimate the thrust (in N) acting on the turbine at the rated wind speed 13 m/s. Take the turbine diameter - 58.6 m and the airflow density p - 1.216 kg/m. The table shown in Figure 2 gives the values of the power coefficient, C., for different values of induction factor.
