a) Draw the switch power loss waveform corresponding to the rise time and the fall time information given in the datasheet. Assume that your switch operating conditions correspond to the test operating conditions given in the datasheet and the complementary diode is an idea diode. (Hint: Please refer to Page 3 of the datasheet). Determine the package of the device SPA20N60C3 from the datasheet
b) Assume that the total power dissipation in the device is 2W. Draw the thermal equivalent circuit of the device. Pick the values of the thermal resistances from the devices datasheet and label them on your circuit.
c) Assuming an ambient temperature of 25 degree Celsius, determine the junction temperature of the device. Would the device be able to survive the power loss without a heatsink? Why? Or, why not?
d) Select a heatsink for the device which can limit the junction temperature to 100 degree Celsius under the worst case ambient temperature of 75 degree Celsius (determined by the application). What would be the junction temperature of the device if air velocity of 600 feet per minute is used in the application?
