How many unknown reactions do we have? 1- Sketch the free body diagram 2- Find two equations from balance of forces in x and y directions. 3- Determine another equation from balance of the moments. 4- The number of the equations should match the number of unknowns 5- After determining the unknowns, use the method of section and balance of forces in x,y directions and balance of moments to determine V,N, and M at D.
