Problem 1 In the power transmission system shown in Figure (1), a 100 watt electrical motor is connected to a spur gear set which the pressure angle is 25 and the module is 45 mm. In the spur gear set, the pinion has 36 teeth and is rotating 500 rpm clockwise. The gear has 18 teeth and it is connected to a helical gear set which the normal pressure angle is 20, the helix angle is 30 and the module is 20 mm. In the helical gear set, the pinion has 40 teeth and the output gear has 50 teeth. (Dimensions are in m). (a) Draw the free body diagram of shaft CD while the trust force is taken out at D.
