Problem: Design of shaper mechanism (100 points) Illustration of the problem: Each student has a series of cutting parameters of the shaper mechanism accordi ng to Table 1. The students should conduct the comprehensive design of shaper m echanism (Fig. 1). They have to determine the power and model of motor, transmi ssion ratio and its distribution, design schemes of linkage mechanism, speed reduc er mechanism and cam mechanism. Related calculation and design have to be fini shed. Note: The prime mover is motor. The cutting speed is constant and the cutter hast he quick return characteristics. The workpiece is stationary during cutting; at thel ater stage of the cutter's empty return, the cross feed of workpiece is performe d, and amount of cross feed at each time is the same. As the surface of workpiece is cut off one layer, the cutter can move downwards one cutting depth along the d irection perpendicular to the cutting surface of workpiece; afterwards, the interm ittent cross feed of workpiece in the opposite direction can be realized easily, and the amount of feed at each time is the same. Submitted materials: Each student has to submit a design calculation report (m ore than 25 A4 pages) and draw a kinematic diagram of shaper mechanism (A1 pa per). Evaluation: The total score of the design is 100 points according to the compreh ensive evaluation of design calculation report and kinematic diagram of shaper m echanism. Students abroad can ask students in China to print for you. Paper versio n materials will be submitted to the School of Mechatronic Engineering for filing
